The Baldwin Mobile Aquatic Club was established in 1992 by Coach Terry Martin.  The new USA Swimming team swam outdoors at the Fly Creek pool in Fairhope, Alabama.

In 1996 Coach Martin built two indoor pools with financial help from Mr. Robert Martin (Terry's father), Mr. Dan Wilkins (Catherine Wilkins' father) and Dr. Lynn Groome (Kirsten Groome's father).  At that time there were no indoor pools on the Eastern Shore.

Coach Martin brought the sport of swimming to the Eastern Shore.  He put the USA Swimming, Inc. BMAC 'Geckos' swim team on the 'swimming map'.  Coach Martin produced and is the Coach of Record for the American Record,  100 Fastest Times, National champions, National record holders, Junior National champions, National Age Group Top 16, Southeast champions, Southeast record holders that you see listed in the BMAC Fast Times pages.

*Four of Coach Martin's past swimmers competed at the 2008 Olympic Trials which was quite an accomplishment for this small area*

Under the guidance of Coach Martin, the club branched out and began to offer swimming lessons for all ages, tri-athlete training, Master's swimming, lap swimming, high school swimming and summer league swimming.  This led the Baldwin Mobile Aquatic Club to be the premiere swim school in the region.

Coach Carol Martin still runs the BMAC summer swim program out of a different pool but Coach Terry Martin left full time coaching and sold the BMAC pool to Coach Suhs who now runs the USA Swimming program.  If you need swimming lessons or stroke improvement for your child please contact Coach Carol at 251 990 8297.  If your child is interested in year round swimming please contact Coach Suhs at 251 625 0950.
